Call or text (239) 366-6624 — we’ll get you sorted in 2 minutes.** ## Fish the Beach, Bridges, or Waterways at Lovers Key Our Fishing Gear Rental includes the basic equipment you need to enjoy saltwater fishing at Lovers Key State Park without hauling your own gear. Fish from an approved beach or bridge location, or bring your fishing pole aboard one of our rental kayaks to explore the surrounding waterways. ### ✅ What’s Included * Fishing pole and reel * Fishing line, hook, and leader * Tackle box with basic replacement hooks, leaders, line, and tackle * Fishing pliers and fish de-hooker * Large live-bait bucket with bubbler * PVC fishing-pole holders for beach use * Shared access to a cast net for catching live bait Basic replacement tackle is available for equipment that becomes damaged or lost during normal fishing use. ### 🐟 Catching Live Bait Cast nets are shared between guests and are issued for limited periods. Guests may generally use a cast net for approximately 30 minutes, with up to one hour to catch live bait and place it into the provided bubbler bucket. Once you have collected your bait, return the cast net to the Beach Shack or contact us so our staff can retrieve it. Returning the net promptly allows other guests to use it during the day. ## 🎫 Florida Fishing-License Requirements Guests are responsible for obtaining the correct Florida saltwater fishing license and any additional permits required for the species they intend to target. A fishing license is required to attempt to take fish, including catch-and-release fishing, unless the person qualifies for a Florida FWC exemption. ### Fishing From the Beach or Bridge Florida residents fishing only from land or from a structure permanently attached to land may obtain a **no-cost Resident Saltwater Shoreline Fishing License**. The shoreline license can generally be used while fishing: * From the beach * From an approved fishing side of a bridge * From a pier or structure attached to land * While standing in the water, provided you reached the location from land and can remain standing on the bottom The resident shoreline license does **not** cover fishing from a kayak, boat, paddleboard, or other vessel. It also does not cover fishing from a shoreline location reached by boat. Non-Florida residents are not eligible for the free resident shoreline license. Cancellation Policy
Booking, Cancellation & Weather Policy Reservation Policy A deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your equipment, tour, rental, or reservation date. The remaining balance is due prior to the start of services unless otherwise approved by management. Cancellation Policy Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the scheduled reservation may be eligible for a credit or reschedule at management discretion. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the reservation are non-refundable, including deposits. No-shows are non-refundable. Weather Policy Guest safety is our priority. In the event of unsafe weather conditions, lightning, high winds, dangerous surf, or other conditions determined unsafe by management, reservations will be rescheduled to another available date. Matt’s Beach Shack and management reserve the right to determine whether weather conditions are unsafe for operations. Refunds will not be issued due to weather-related interruptions, delays, or closures. Guests will instead receive a rescheduled booking or account credit toward a future reservation. Rescheduling Policy Guests may request to reschedule based on availability. Management approval is required for all reschedule requests. Management Rights Matt’s Beach Shack reserves the right to refuse service, modify operations due to safety concerns, and make final determinations regarding cancellations, weather delays, and operational conditions.
